Bombay Bistro, Torrequebrada – Disappointing First Visit September 11th 2025
Directly opposite Lidl in Torrequebrada, the former La Traviata café has reopened as Bombay Bistro Restaurant and Café Bar. We decided to give it a try but were sorely disappointed.
We ordered two coffees served in glasses, and the waiter kindly showed us the available glassware and a sample orange juice glass. From the menu, we also ordered two toasted ham-and-cheese sandwiches.
While the waiter was pleasant, the service was extremely slow. When the first coffee arrived, it looked like hot chocolate. I was assured it was coffee—the glass itself was tinted. However, it wasn’t the standard coffee glass I expected. They apologized, explaining they only had three proper coffee glasses. After another wait, the orange juice arrived in the same type of small glass, and eventually, the second coffee appeared in one of the proper glasses.
A long time passed before our “toasted” sandwiches arrived. They were unlike any toasted sandwich I’ve ever seen: the bread had been only lightly toasted—barely warm inside—and the cheese wasn’t melted at all.
When the waiter asked if everything was okay, I explained the issues above. He apologized and admitted he wasn’t sure what a toasted sandwich should be. As a gesture, he only charged for one sandwich. Still, considering the slow service, underwhelming food, and prices higher than similar nearby places, they have a lot to learn.
