“A new and probably the first “High End” Restaurant in Benalmadena. A money no object project that produced a beautiful perfectly furnished and furbished inside and out. What was a long closed building has been taken to unbelievable heights. Well staffed with pleasant attentive professional waiters who are discreetly observing what might be required next, and ensuring that the dishes arrive freshly made and with perfect timing. The kitchen has been constructed at the end of the restaurant and has huge windows facing into the dining area, from where you can watch the Chefs at work.
The menu is extensive and contains lots of old favourites prepared with a new twist and many things that are new to me. While we waited for the first course we were presented with a delightful “mis en bouche” of homemade pate on toast with a fruity jam topping. We combined the Tapas Menu with the Full menu and we shared a tapa of Morcilla de Burgos (crisp and sweet, with an apple puree) followed by a shared Gambas Pil Pil (Surely everyones favourite).
From the “Principal” menu I chose The Rib Eye Steak (300g of Argentinian delight) with my wife choosing from the fish menu and had “Merluza a la Romana.” We had pre selected, but not pre ordered what we were going to eat by selecting from the menus on their exquisite web site – vicantan.com. All the menus and some mouthwatering photos can be seen there.
For the first courses we had a rather pleasant Rueda Verdejo, but I did want a red to accompany my Steak so I abandoned the white wine to my wifes care and ordered a bottle Ribiera de Duero, reasonably priced but I am afraid not what I was expecting. Neither of us take a dessert, and we were offered a pleasant fruity sorbet to round off an exceptional meal.
Being a little higher priced restaurant than many in the area, it will probably be used for celebratory Meals. We can always find somebodies birthday, or anniversary as an excuse to return, and return we certainly will. excellent value.”
