“What a fantastic friendly bar. It’s a must to visit. A real homely feel. Everyone is made to feel so welcome whether you’re on your own or with a group, nothing is too much trouble. It has a TV showing the main events, very comfy chairs outside which is uncommon. Situated on a corner so great for watching what’s going on. Jon, Anne and all the staff are a delight and come over to chat. They also serve a selection of Cocktails and also free nuts and nibbles bought to your table. I would thoroughly recommend a visit, you’ll go back.”

who posted review 2 on	April 6, 2016	and says, ”This was my local bar when I lived in Spain from 1979 to 1991 (12 years). I remember the original owner, Paul Brown, and the Irish couple Olivia and Dermot who took it over in the mid 80’s (I wish I could remember Olivia’s surname). The answers I have given are based on days of old, I haven’t been there for 20+ years but I am pleased it is still going strong.”

who posted review 1 on	March 8, 2013	and says, ”The John Smiths on tap was a good as at home, better than any other bar I tried. The owner, Geoff, is a typical yorkshire man, we loved the banter with him and his regulars. He got a map book out and spent time showing me how to get to the Lakes, even offered to lend me the book and we’d only been in once before. He used is own phone to order us a indian and was happy for it to be delivered to the bar at the time that suited us. We’re going back again next month and will be straight back for good beer and good company.”
