“We decided to give the Matahambre a try in its first week. It has taken over the bar next to 100 montaditos that has failed several times following several models including Italian and Traditional spanish Tapas. Matahambre is a chain/franchise and was previously located at the other end of blas infante for a year or two but that didn’t work out. They are now in a prime position and have opened quietly offering a huge menu tapas and raciones, prices are a little higher than others locally, but portions are huge and presentation is exceptional. We had a chicken and bacon wrap, which was exceptional and good value at 6 euro and also a bread sandwich ring, which was pretty awful. A bottle of Rueda Verdejo, white wine, was just 8 euro (good value) BUT the thing I liked least was the addition of 10% I.V.A. (VAT) to the menu price I always feel that not including taxes in the menu price smacks of sharp practice. Now you are forewarned is forearmed, worth a look and I think that they will improve once their practice period is over.”
