SOME OF THE HISTORY OF THE PREMISES
From Six Separate Venues to Mullarkey’s
The story of Mullarkey’s is also the story of how one small stretch of neighbouring bars and businesses gradually became the place it is today.
In the years leading up to 2008, what is now Mullarkey’s was actually made up of six separate premises. Starting from the left, there was The Sand Bar, followed by an agency, then the well-established Bar La Notte — better known to many British visitors as The Wolves Bar. Next came Lynne and Tino’s popular LJ’s Bar, with the final two premises occupied by Buzby’s Cabaret and Karaoke Bar.
Over the years, the names and faces began to change.
By 2012, The Sand Bar had become La Pirata de Tapas, LJ’s had closed, and Buzby’s had evolved into Mad Terry @ Buzby’s.
By 2014, La Pirata de Tapas had changed again, becoming Ollie’s Scottish Pub, while the former Wolves Bar was trading as Taberna Porrones.
Then came the biggest change of all.
In August 2015, Mullarkey’s arrived in style, taking over all but Ollie’s and bringing most of those once-separate premises together under one name.
The story continued in August 2019, when Ollie’s and its neighbouring premises became Biddy’s, a food annex to Mullarkey’s and the final piece in the transformation of this familiar row of venues.
Today, in 2026, the entire collection is still going strong. Every summer the doors open, the terraces fill and the place comes alive once again — carrying with it almost two decades of names, characters, memories and stories.
Six premises. Countless memories. One Mullarkey’s.

What can I say and excellent pub with very welcoming staff.
The bar has live entertainment 7 days a week 10pm to midnight.
Midnight to 3am is Karaoke for all the clientele. Now this is a very fun experience whilst on holiday. The karaoke is hosted by Tommo who is very professional.
Mad Terry is a very funny owner and singing comedy impressionist. Julie his partner and other owner takes care of the behind bar running of the pub.
They even let you leave with homemade cooked food. Who needs a kebab or take away when you can have everything in one place lol.

Known Julie for over 9 years. Since Terry has gone into partnership with her, things are really on the up. They make everyone welcome and always a smile on their faces. Always there in the evenings as the entertainment is excellent.

Roger is gone but Julie remains along with one of Benalmadenas old favourite characters “Mad Terry” to continue the fun and frolics at Buzbys.I´ve been visiting this place since Pete Buzby set it up in the mid 15th century, or so it feels, and have always had a great time as it guarantees live music and comedy every night of the week (Important when away for only 7 days as no time to be searching). It´s one of the rare bars that never seems to change hands, a great sign of success but also a guarantee of some fun in the sun even when the sun don´t shine.Even during this change of management, Julie remains as a partner to keep up the great work. Andy from Wetherspains is now cooking so the food will always be top notch for low dollar, altogether a great team and I know they will carry on carrying on at Buzby´s. Miss Tommo on the bar though, can you get him back from Montemar-
