Brooklyn Speakeasy was an establishment that sold alcohol clandestinely. The term “Speakeasy” comes from the way customers spoke in these types of bars. The waiters asked them to “speak quietly” in English “Speakeasy” so as not to raise suspicions and prevent the police from listening to them.
