I suppose I first started dining out in posh establishments in the 1970’s. Those were the days of Jensen Interceptors, Beef Stroganoff, Steak Diane and Crepe Suzettes.
What a delight to find a restaurant here on the Costa that serves up these delicious traditional masterpieces amongst an extensive menu in great surroundings. I am referring to the newly opened La Bruja Flamenca in Benalmadena Pueblo. I went there a few Sundays ago with Annie and Cherry and
Dave. We were greeted at the restaurant by Jose Rodriguez and his wife Julie. Jose is Spanish, but spent a long time as a restauranteur in Manchester and cracks English jokes. A terrific fellow. He handed me my menu upside down. The
views from the terrace were spectacular – the whole coastline in front of you while you eat. We were presented with complimentary tomato mouse. Everyone gave it top marks. The starters were terrific, spectacular Foie Gras, a massive Avocado Salad, Smoke Salmon Marinade and Prawn Cocktail.
For the main course Dave choose the Stroganoff, flambeed at the table. He declared it superb. Annie and I selected the Lamb with apricot and Serrano ham with a mint sauce – Totally delicious. Cherry choose the Cordon Bleu Chicken, also well received. Everything was served with a great selection of fresh vegetables, another rarity in Spain these days. The pudding selection was incredible. Dave went for the Crepes Suzette. Annie and Cherry ordered Cheesecake with a mandarin and fruits of the forest sorbet with a biscuit base. As I am diabetic Jose made me a sugar free pudding (well almost!) of pineapple in Malibu with fruits of the forest Jose told me that he is working on inventing diabetic desserts. The chef
came to see us. He is the young and talented Michael Halouzka Radomir. If his Sunday lunch is anything to go by, we will be hearing more of him in the future.

My husband and I feel this restaurant is fabulous and just what the pueblo needs. The food and cleaniness is top marks! We have been several times and always are the last to leave. Julie and Jose are exquisite, always polite and feel like friends. We look forward to going back for a lovely evening out soon. Dee and Chris Isle of Man.

Every visit to Las Bruja Flamenca is a joy and we cannot recommend this fine but intimate restaurant too highly. Their open friendliness and genuine warmth in their welcome is refreshing in a market in Andalucia driven by commercialism.
The range of their menu though modest is remarkably different in a subtle way. All tastes are catered for with a surprising twist.
Flambees being available in such a humble establishment and of such superior quality are just one more of the restaurant’s best kept secrets.
The final and deal clincher is the fact that Jose not only has the time to welcome you put you at your ease serve you and cook for you at your table is that he also has the time to serenade you with his guitar!!!!
