The airport also has website that is quick and accurate means of getting flight information,
You can search (in English) flight arrivals and departures by Flight Number – Airline – or Flight Times
There are eight car-rental companies inside the airport buildings. The rest (often the lower-cost companies) are off-site which means you’ll need to take a shuttle or arrange a meet and greet service.
Rental companies with counters in the airport: The on-site hire companies are all in the same place, in Terminal 3 near the luggage claim area on floor 0. You’ll collect your key from the counter and the staff will explain where to find your car.
Rental companies with counters away from the airport: Most of the offsite rental companies are on the main road from the airport. The rental company will arrange a free minibus to take you from the terminal to the counter. If you booked your car in advance, your voucher will tell you where to go.

Malaga Airport is located about 6km West of the Malaga city, just off the main Coast Road N340. When leaving the airport by car, and after the first roundabout approaching the N340, the left hand lane takes you across the flyover Take the Left hand lane for Malaga, and the Eastern Costa del Sol.
For the West side of the Costa you need to take the right hand lane for Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, and all other points on the western Costa del Sol.
There are two stations in Malaga centre, the first one you stop at (Maria Zambrano) links with the main line RENFE station for to the rest of the country. It is constructed inside the huge Vialia shopping precinct housing lots of the big names Zara, Mango, Massimo Dutti, H&M, and a 13 Screen Yelmo Cinema Complex with many Restaurants and Cafes.
The last stop on the line is Centro Alameda in the heart of the shopping area. However they are very close together and either will do for the centre of Malaga. Where you can happily pass many hours strolling the wide boulevards, immaculate pediestran shopping streets and the narrow interesting alleyways hiding excellent cafes and bars.
The Train Service runs along the coast from Malaga City Centre to Fuengirola It is a convenient and inexpensive service. Excursions out from Arroyo de la Miel can be fun with reasonable fares to Fuengirola, Torremolinos and to Malaga. Although prices are more expensive on Sundays and on Fiestas you would not notice unless you knew the weekday fares. When we first arrived here there was a single track railway it was always on time. Timetables have changed with the new second track being laid, and the service has become a reliable every 20 minute timetable for most of the day.
The main bus stop in Benalmadena is located next to 24-Hour Square and has a ticket kiosk where you can buy your ticket, or if you are likely to use several buses you should consider buying a prepaid card. This can be bought at the kiosk or in any of the towns “Estancos” (Tobacco shops). you buy it by making a small deposit then you decide what amount to put on it. This gives you a really worthwhile discount and if you are travelling together you only need the one card, individual tickets are issued and your cards balance is displayed after each use. The added bonus is that you can return the card when you no longer require it and your deposit is refunded.
Updated September 2019: The cards are 1.80 from any tobacconists plus a min of 5€ credit and then you swipe it on the ticket machine on the bus. fares reduced from 1,68 to 1.08 on a 2 zone card (94c on a one zone) which you can use to Malaga, Mijas, Fuengirola and Torremolinos. You can buy as many tickets as you need with one card and ticket tells you the remaining credit on your card.————–

At the airport you can find a taxi right outside the arrival terminal door. There are always plenty, so there is no need to book or wait. However be sure to ask how much the fare will be and if it is too high do not be afraid to ask another driver, he will have noted what happened and you will be sure of getting a more honest quote. Roughly Airport to Torremolinos 19 euros – Benalmadena Costa 24 euros – Arroyo de la Miel 22 euros – Fuengirola 33 euros. There is a list posted on the wall of the terminal (near the taxi rank) and if the taxi’s are not metered they carry a book of fares to all resorts and although reluctant will show you it if pressed.
The taxi drivers in Malaga have recently been having strikes and demonstrations regarding the introduction of “Uber” to the region. Personally I prefer to use the local “Taxistas” as there does not seem to be a great difference in prices, and I am not shy about bartering with them.
